Practical Course Biological Life Support Systems

What it is about

You learn to culture and operate microalgae, mainly in the context of life-support systems. In the end you can build and operate microalgae cultures, plan and conduct experiments, and evaluate culture state and growth.

What you will be able to do

• Understand the use and cultivation of microalgae for life-support systems
• Assess cultivation and expansion of microalgae cultures for long-term manned spaceflight missions
• Design and prepare microalgae culture for space applications
• Analyze and adapt cultivation conditions (e.g., medium, light intensity) for specific mission requirements
