What it is about

You learn the fundamentals of instrument flight in a helicopter: from cockpit introduction over radio and navigation (NDB, VOR, GPS) to approach procedures (ILS, VOR, GPS). In the end you will be able to apply standard instrument flight procedures, read instrument flight charts, work through checklists and assess pilot workload.

What the module consists of

• TheorieIntroduction to cockpit, autopilot, navigation (NDB, VOR, GPS), ILS approach, radiotelephony, flight planning
• Praktikum/FlugpraxisFlight tests on the avionics trainer: hover, forward/backward/sideways flight, trimming, hold heading/altitude, turns, VOR/GPS approaches, navigation by radiotelephony
