Introduction to Global Health

What it is about

You will be introduced to the field of Global Health with a focus on developments in countries of the Global South. You will learn key terms, the relationships between health and development, as well as trends in disease burden, and you will be able to critically evaluate different intervention and measurement approaches.

• Define core concepts and terminology of Global Health
• Reflect on trends in prevalent infectious and non-infectious diseases
• Comment on and critique prevention and treatment strategies
• Explain the connections between poverty and health
• Assess the impact of health interventions and policies
• Summarize and evaluate findings from influential empirical studies
