What it is about

You work interdisciplinary on the development of optical imaging methods and on the production as well as photophysical characterization of photoactive proteins. In the end you can independently prepare and conduct experiments, document various measurement data, and process them computationally, as well as present the results in writing and orally.

What you will be able to do

• independent preparation of a scientific experiment in the field of optoacoustic imaging and protein engineering
• operation of complex optical imaging systems under supervision
• application of fundamental techniques of protein biochemistry
• documented recording of experimental data from different sources
• computational preparation (e.g., data mining on protein structure and sequence)
• computational analysis of the obtained data
• writing a scientific report and discussion of the results
• application of fundamental methods of literature research

What the module consists of

• PraktikumCarrying out the multi-stage experiment in teams (usually three people): production/modification/characterization of photoactive proteins, optoacoustic imaging, computer-based analysis of time-dependent data
