Biopharmazeutische Verfahrenstechnik

What it is about

You learn about the construction and production of biopharmaceutical drugs as well as the technical fundamentals of purification of biogenic substances. In the end you will be able to plan production processes for different classes of drugs, select suitable reactors and separation processes, and evaluate the steps for isolation and purification of biomolecules.

What you will be able to do

• Understand the special requirements of biotechnological pharmaceutical production and plan production processes
• Understand production of different classes of biotechnological drugs (Upstream, Downstream, Logistics, Fill & Finish, Analytics)
• Select reactors and operating modes for industrial biomolecule production
• Explain the sequence of process steps for isolation and separation of biogenic substances
• Evaluate the applicability of filtration, centrifugation, extraction, precipitation, chromatography
• Select apparatus for different separation steps
• Know the advantages of integrated process concepts and single-use equipment
• Explain the production of medicines for novel therapies (ATMP)
