Genetics and Genomics of Root-Microbe Interactions

What it is about

You will learn how root development, genetics and genomics determine the interactions between plant roots and the rhizosphere microbiome. In the end you will be able to analyze genomic and genetic data (e.g., root transcriptomes, microbiome data) and plan and conduct a research project on the role of root genes and microbes for sustainable agriculture.

• Understand the genetic and genomic basis of root formation and rhizosphere interactions
• Be able to bioinformatically analyze root transcriptome and rhizosphere microbiome data
• Practically apply genome editing and microbiological culture techniques
• Critically evaluate scientific questions and experimental strategies
• Independently design and plan a research project on root–microbiome interactions
