Parasite Immunology

What it is about

You learn the fundamentals of parasitology and immunological defence against protozoa and helminths. The module conveys immune invasion strategies of parasites, clinical aspects and immunology-based intervention and prophylaxis concepts, so that you can assess the interactions between parasites, host immunity and the microbiome at the end.

Importance of parasitic infections for humans and animals
Critical evaluation of immunology-based intervention strategies and vaccine prophylaxis

What the module consists of

LectureConveying the theoretical foundations; independent follow-up using lecture slides, notes and literature
SeminarGroup work and case analysis; application of theory to complex clinical cases; optional presentation as mid-term assessment
