What it is about

You work in a research internship on neuroproteomics with a focus on Alzheimer’s disease. You learn the molecular mechanisms of Alzheimer’s pathology and apply modern molecular biological and biochemical methods to investigate proteins, their modifications and interactions in mouse models and neuronal cell cultures. In the end you will be able to analyze proteomic data from cell culture and tissue samples and present and discuss research results in a professional manner.

What you will be able to do

  • Basic knowledge in Proteomics (sample preparation, fractionation, protein/peptide identification)
  • Analysis and interpretation of proteomic data including post-translational modifications
  • Application of molecular biological and biochemical laboratory procedures
  • Creation, evaluation and scientific classification of research results
  • Scientific presentation and discussion of your own data

What the module consists of

  • Praktikumpractical laboratory course embedded in an ongoing research project; execution of experiments and data analysis
  • Diskussionsrundenregular discussion of the results achieved with group members

Teaching method

  • Praktische Laborarbeitacquisition of practical skills and conduct of a research project
  • Diskussionen im Teamdiscussion, interpretation and critical reflection of the results
