What it is about

You learn how global change scenarios influence plant functions and the interactions of plants with other organisms. The module combines ecological and evolutionary perspectives to assess implications for carbon sources/sinks, utilization potentials, and risks for plants and their interaction partners.

Understand the effects of global-change scenarios on plant systems
Analyze the influence of abiotic and biotic factors process-related
Derive risks and development potentials for plant species and communities
Evaluate effects on plant–animal interactions in different ecosystems
Present scientific results in poster form

What the module consists of

Vorlesung 1Deepening of global-change scenarios and their effects on plants as well as significance for C sources/sinks at different scales
Vorlesung 2Influence of global-change factors on interactions between plants and animal partners in different ecosystems
SeminarDeepening of the lecture topics; students develop a scientific poster and discuss examples

Assessment

Oral examWritten examClosed-Book

Final exam, either oral (20 minutes) or written (60 minutes). Both are closed-book exams without aids. The goal is to demonstrate that you understand the relationships between global change, plant functions, and biotic/abiotic factors, and can derive risks and potentials from them.
