What it is about

You will undertake a six-week research internship on new therapeutic approaches against age-related diseases, with a focus on signaling pathways, stem cell research and drug discovery. In the end you will be able to classifying the cellular mechanisms of aging and senescence, especially in cells from patients with premature aging (e.g. HGPS), and independently plan, execute and evaluate experiments.

What you will be able to do

  • Understand how cells develop an aging or senescence phenotype
  • Classify molecular processes in normal and premature aging (HGPS)
  • Perform cell culture and molecular biological methods
  • Plan, conduct and analyze your own small project
  • Documentation and presentation of scientific work according to Good Scientific Practice

What the module consists of

  • Laborpraktikumcentral practical implementation of the research tasks
  • LiteraturrechercheDevelopment of the scientific context and preparation of the project
  • Präsentation/Journal ClubDiscussion and reflection of results in weekly meetings

Teaching method

  • LaborarbeitLearning and applying experimental techniques to investigate aging mechanisms
  • LiteraturrechercheDeepening of the theoretical background and formulation of research questions
  • Wöchentliche Lab-Meetings und Journal ClubPresentation, discussion and critical reflection of results and literature
