Methoden der Aquatischen Systembiologie

What it is about

You will learn methods for examining and evaluating water bodies — from structure and water chemistry to sediments, macroinvertebrates, periphyton, macrophytes, up to fish and bioindication. In the end you will be able to formulate ecological research questions on anthropogenic influences, apply a standardized sampling design, and statistically (univariate and multivariate) analyze and evaluate the collected data.

What you will be able to do

• Conceptualize research projects on freshwater ecological questions
• understand and evaluate anthropogenic influences on freshwater ecosystems
• standardized planning and practical application of sampling designs
• taxonomic identification: fish, macroinvertebrates, periphyton, macrophytes
• quantitatively and qualitatively record data and prepare them for statistical analysis
• apply statistical analysis methods (univariate, multivariate)
• critically evaluate research designs and suggest improvements
