What it is about

You explore material-related work processes and uncover the aesthetic potentials of materials. From laboratory and development phases, artistic works arise (e.g., installation, sculpture, painting, performance, film, new media) that enable personal perspectives and experimental design forms. In the end you can recognize material-based qualities, develop creative approaches, and implement them in design works.

What you will be able to do

• Detect and name qualities and peculiarities of objects, forms, or materials independently
• perceive and name the artistic qualities of a work
• develop your own creative solutions from observations
• visualize design ideas
• use process-oriented idea development for the design process
• sharpen perception and self-criticism regarding your own design work
• deepen engagement with contemporary art
