AI-edited module sheet. Based on the TUMonline module description, edited for readability.Original in TUMonline

What it is about

You will learn to describe and analyze reaction engineering processes and industrial reactors with mathematical models. The module combines fundamentals from thermodynamics, heat and mass transfer, reaction engineering and catalysis with methods of data analysis, numerical analysis, multiscale modelling and statistics as well as MATLAB programming. In the end you will be able to develop models, solve them numerically and evaluate the effects of heat and mass transport on reactor design.

What you will be able to do

  • analyze chemical processes mathematically
  • develop models for reaction engineering cases
  • understand and apply numerical methods
  • evaluate the influence of heat and mass transport on reactor design
  • perform simple parameter estimations and assess statistical significance

What the module consists of

  • Seminar (2 SWS)Vermittlung der theoretischen Inhalte und Vertiefung durch Programmbeispiele; Gruppenarbeit an Programmieraufgaben und Abschlussprojekt

Teaching method
