What it is about
You will learn the theoretical foundations and practical applications of modern FT-NMR and 2D-NMR methods. In the end you will be able to select, adapt, and analyze the obtained datasets to solve structure- and conformation-related questions for organic and biochemical molecules.
What you will be able to do
- Selection and optimization of homonuclear 2D experiments (e.g., COSY, TOCSY with various mixing times)
- Selection and optimization of heteronuclear 2D experiments (e.g., HMQC/HSQC, HMBC)
- Processing and analysis of 2D-NMR datasets
- Solving questions on molecular constitution and conformation
What the module consists of
- VorlesungDerivation of the fundamentals of FT-NMR and explanation of individual 2D experiments; presentation of overviews and example spectra
- Übung/Interaktive DiskussionDiscussion of tasks and solutions, access to exercise sheets and datasets for joint evaluation
- SelbststudiumScript and example datasets are available
Teaching method
- TafelvortragDerivation and explanation of the fundamental concepts
- PowerPoint-PräsentationenOverviews of the techniques and presentation of real spectra
- Interaktive DiskussionenJoint discussion of exercises and solutions
- Online-Materialien (Script, Übungsblätter, Datensätze)Support for self-study and practical exercises
