What it is about

You work independently in a research laboratory on a current project from molecular and protein biology for about 8 weeks. In the end you will be able to plan, carry out, evaluate experimental questions and present your results in writing and orally in a scientific manner.

What you will be able to do

• Question-oriented planning and execution of experiments
• Evaluation and interpretation of experimental data
• Application of a broad range of molecular biology and protein biology methods
• Independent work in the research team and integration into workflows
• Documentation in the laboratory notebook according to good scientific practice
• Scientific written and oral presentation as well as discussion of results
• Critical evaluation of results, hypothesis formation and derivation of control experiments

What the module consists of

• Forschungspraktikum (Labor)Independent work on a research project in the chosen research group (about 8 weeks, full-time)
• LaborjournalOngoing written documentation of the performed work
• Schriftliche Ausarbeitung (Protokoll)Summarizing representation of the work and results (10–25 pages)
• PräsentationFinal presentation to display and discuss the results (about 10 minutes)
