What it is about

In the internship you will learn to set up, carry out and evaluate process simulations with Aspen Plus® for process engineering questions. In the end you will be able to create simulations of existing thermal processes, analyze their sustainability and economic viability, and develop optimization approaches.

What you will be able to do

  • Application of the process simulation software Aspen Plus®
  • Creation of simulations of thermal processes
  • Analysis of sustainability and economic viability of simulated processes
  • Critical evaluation of simulation results
  • Development of optimized process conditions for sustainable solutions
  • Recognition of convergence problems and limits of simulation

What the module consists of

  • PraktikumMain component: practical work on eight tasks/tutorials in individual or pair work
  • EinführungsveranstaltungIntroduction to the course and introduction to Aspen Plus® to facilitate entry
  • Skript/TutorialsGuidance with tasks and tutorials on which independent work is based

Teaching method

  • Einführungsvortrag mit Präsentationpresents the sequence and introduces the software
  • Selbstständige Bearbeitung von Tutorials und Aufgaben (Einzel- oder Zweiergruppen)enables intensive practice of the software and application to various processes
  • Schriftliche Berichteserve the evaluation, documentation and critical reflection of the simulation results
  • Teamarbeit im Rechnerraum und gegenseitige Unterstützungpromotes inter- and transdisciplinary problem solving
  • Betreuung durch Lehrende (persönlich oder per E‑Mail nach Absprache)provides assistance with open questions
