What it is about

You learn how traffic flows are modeled and controlled – from the basics of traffic flow theory through models and estimation methods to measures of traffic management on highways and in urban spaces. In the end you can apply traffic flow models, design traffic control and management measures, and evaluate the quality of such measures.

• Apply queueing models and origin-destination estimation methods
• Understand fundamentals of control and regulation theory for traffic engineering

• Plan and coordinate signal control systems
• Design inflow regulation and other highway management measures
• Design adaptive and network-based urban traffic control
• Apply tunnel management and quality management concepts
• Plan and integrate priority measures for public transport and cycling
