AI-edited module sheet. Based on the TUMonline module description, edited for readability.Original in TUMonline

What it is about

You learn the fundamentals of artificial intelligence and machine learning with a focus on methods relevant in engineering. In the end you will be able to name basic AI and ML concepts, select appropriate methods for engineering problems, and apply simple models for supervised, unsupervised and deep learning, particularly for image-oriented tasks.

What you will be able to do

  • Name concepts and terms of AI and machine learning
  • Identify and select suitable AI methods for engineering problems
  • Perform exploratory data analysis and prepare data for ML algorithms
  • Apply algorithms of supervised and unsupervised learning
  • Name basic concepts of neural networks, MLPs, convolutional networks and object detection networks
  • Learn the basics of reinforcement learning

What the module consists of

  • VorlesungConveying the fundamental concepts and their applicability in the engineering field
  • Praxis-/TeamaufgabenApplication of what has been learned to practical problems in small student teams

Teaching method
