Rail Design

What it is about

In this module you will learn basic and practice-oriented calculation methods for the railway superstructure and its stability. By the end you will be able to assess loads due to traffic, additional loads and temperature, apply sizing methods, and evaluate the constructive implementation with regard to safety.

What you will be able to do

• Understanding the loading of the railway superstructure due to traffic and additional loads
• Applying design methods in the planning of the superstructure
• Evaluating the constructive implementation with respect to safety
• Knowledge of ballastless track systems, superstructure components and testing procedures
• Identifying measures for noise and vibration protection as well as green tracks
• Fundamentals of maintenance management
