What it is about

You learn methods and technologies for semantic modeling of the built environment (e.g., CityGML, IFC, INSPIRE). In the end you can analyze complex information models, design your own data models and ontologies, and derive model-based storage and exchange formats.

What you will be able to do

  • Understand advanced UML diagrams
  • Knowledge of relevant ISO standards (19107, 19109)
  • Familiarity with ontologies, OWL, RDF and SPARQL
  • Analysis of international data standards (CityGML, IFC)
  • Application of Model Driven Architecture (MDA)
  • Derivation of storage and exchange formats from models
  • Development of conceptual schemas and ontologies for concrete use cases

What the module consists of

  • LecturesTransmission of the theoretical foundations on structures, models and standards
  • ExercisesPractical deepening with relevant software tools, traceability and self-development of data models as well as derivation of exchange formats

Teaching method

  • LectureIntroduction and explanation of the theoretical concepts
  • ExercisePractical application of the lecture content with software tools for in-depth learning
  • Moodle e-learning / presentations / scripts / specialized softwareSupport for independent study and exercises
