AI-edited module sheet. Based on the TUMonline module description, edited for readability.Original in TUMonline

What it is about

You will learn to analyze, design and prototype IoT systems for the built environment. The focus is on sensors, microcontrollers, communication protocols (especially LoRa/LoRaWAN) as well as open standards for geosensor networks and the visualization and analysis of time-series data.

What you will be able to do

  • Explain fundamental methods and technologies of the Internet of Things and geosensor networks
  • Evaluate Fachpublikationen from the IoT field
  • Independently develop and prototypically implement IoT- and geosensor network-related questions
  • Document results scientifically and present and discuss them in front of an audience

What the module consists of

  • VorlesungenConveying theoretical foundations on hardware, protocols and geosensor networks
  • Praktische ÜbungenIntroduction to installation and programming of the project hardware (microcontrollers, sensors, actuators)
  • Projektarbeit in KleingruppenIndependent development, implementation and documentation of an IoT project with accompanying supervision

Teaching method

  • Vorlesungen und FachliteraturConveying the theoretical foundations of IoT hardware, protocols and geosensor networks
  • Hands-on Übungen mit ProjekthardwareIntroduction to installation and programming of the components
  • Projektarbeit mit TutorenbetreuungApplying what is learned to develop and implement own IoT projects; weekly supervision to provide support
