What it is about

In this practice-oriented module you will learn to build, calibrate, validate, and apply traffic models (microscopic and macroscopic) for planning tasks. At the end you will be able to evaluate simulation scenarios, critically assess results, and use them to support decisions and reports in traffic planning.

• Understand concepts of microscopic and macroscopic traffic flow models
• Build networks for micro- and macroscale simulations
• Integrate traffic control into microscopic simulation networks
• Calibrate and validate simple microscopic simulations
• Evaluate simulation scenarios
• Critically assess simulation results
• Use simulation results for decision-making processes
• Draft project reports for traffic planning tasks
• Know the range of capabilities of potential employers in the field of traffic planning
