What it is about

You will learn theories and methods for the analysis of discs, plates and shells. In the end you will be able to select suitable model depths, model problems with finite element software and evaluate the results using analytical solutions and plausibility calculations.

What you will be able to do

• Assess suitable disc-, plate- or shell-theory for real problems
• Model problems with finite element programs and evaluate simulation results
• Check results by hand calculation, analytical solutions and approximate calculations
• Critically evaluate numerical results and assess physical relevance
• Implement results in a structure-appropriate manner
• Expand and develop background knowledge on finite element formulation for plates, discs and shells
