AI-edited module sheet. Based on the TUMonline module description, edited for readability.Original in TUMonline

What it is about

In this module you will learn the fundamentals and practical application of computational aerodynamics (CFD). You will receive introductions to the Navier-Stokes equations, numerical solution methods (including finite-volume methods), turbulence modeling, boundary conditions, mesh generation as well as analysis and visualization of simulations. By the end you will be able to set up, execute, and critically evaluate flow simulations.

What you will be able to do

  • Understand fundamental modeling concepts
  • Know the methods available in modern flow simulation tools
  • Set up and run flow simulations
  • Analyze and evaluate simulation results
  • Critical analysis of key figures

What the module consists of

  • VorlesungDelivery of theoretical foundations through lecture and presentation
  • ÜbungenDerivation of solution approaches, repetition of the theoretical background and preparation for typical exam tasks
  • Tutorenübung (freiwillig)Independent practice of further tasks with support from tutors

Teaching method

  • Vortrag/PräsentationIntroduction and explanation of the teaching content; slides and script are provided
  • Beispiele in VorlesungIllustration and application of the theory
  • Übungsaufgaben mit HerleitungDeepening understanding and training of solution strategies
  • TutorenunterstützungIndependent practice with feedback (voluntary)
