What it is about

You learn the fundamentals of satellite navigation as well as the basics of orbital mechanics. In the end, you will be able to apply and assess observation equations and sources of error in satellite navigation, as well as understandably apply the basics of orbit determination, reference frame transformation, and perturbing forces on satellite orbits.

What you will be able to do

  • Understand concepts and algorithms of satellite navigation
  • Apply methods of precise positioning
  • Reproduce observation equations
  • Assess the effects of error sources on signal transmission
  • Compute linear combinations and evaluate tracking data quality
  • Understand fundamentals of satellite motion and celestial mechanics
  • Apply orbit determination and reference frame transformations
  • Understand the concept of orbit perturbations
  • Assess the magnitude of various disturbance influences on orbits
  • Analyze properties of specific orbits and evaluate their applications
  • Understand the importance and practice of ground-track repeatability
