Master's Thesis

What it is about

You work under supervision on a current topic from the Master program Earth Oriented Space Science and Technology. You develop solutions, make a selection and implement a chosen solution path; you present and document the result in a written Master thesis.

What you will be able to do

• Deep understanding of a scientific problem and its context
• Analysis of satellite data
• Development of algorithms and methodological solutions
• Application and, if applicable, own development of scientific methods
• Analysis, evaluation and interpretation of results
• Placement of the results in a larger scientific/technical context
• Linking subject-specific expertise with a broader perspective
• Derivation of implications and recommendations for action
• Drafting a structured scientific work with correct citation

What the module consists of

• Masterarbeit (schriftlich)Central elaboration: topic work, method development, implementation, analysis and documentation
• Masterkolloquium (mündlich)Presentation and defense of the work before the examination board; required, but not graded
