What it is about

You will learn how the Earth system is analyzed with the help of models and observational data, with a focus on data-driven dynamic modeling and its differences to process-based modeling. In the end you can assess uncertainties in measurement data and evaluate how measurements influence the calibration, evaluation and parameter estimation of data-driven models.

• Provide fundamentals of dynamic modeling of the Earth system
• Provide essential aspects for obtaining observational data about the Earth system
• Assess uncertainties in measurement data
• Estimate the propagation of measurement accuracy to data-driven models and their parameters
• Identify suitable methods for evaluating simulation data with measurement data
