AI-edited module sheet. Based on the TUMonline module description, edited for readability.Original in TUMonline

What it is about

You learn how to design and implement a software-defined GNSS receiver (SDR-based). The module covers front-end design, signal preprocessing, acquisition and tracking of GPS L1(C/A) signals, and the processing of navigation data for position determination. In the end you will be able to conceive a GNSS software receiver and explain and apply its components for signal acquisition and position determination.

What you will be able to do

  • Create a GNSS software receiver on an SDR basis
  • Understand the operation of Software-Defined Radio
  • Analyze received navigation satellite signals
  • Apply theoretical foundations to solve reception problems
  • Apply knowledge of signal structure to track and demodulate navigation data

What the module consists of

  • Vorlesungintroduction to theory and concepts (1 hour per week)
  • Labor / Praktikumhands-on work with SDR and raw tracking data for signal acquisition and tracking (2 hours per week)

Teaching method

  • Oral presentationsDelivery of lecture content
  • Question & answerInteraction and clarification of understanding questions
  • Hands-on Labs with SDR and MatlabPractice of acquisition, tracking and data processing in practical exercises
