Data Regulation & Law (6 ECTS)

What it is about

The module covers legal foundations and current regulations around data, data protection and data economy in the EU (including GDPR, Data Governance Act, Data Act). You will learn the central terms, rights and duties and you can assess the implications of these regulations for individuals, companies and society.

What you will be able to do

Understand concepts and effects of data, data protection and private law
Explain policy, fundamental rights, origin and meaning of the GDPR
Explain the material and territorial scope of the GDPR
Understand the basic principles of the Data Act
Discuss the rights of data subjects (e.g., access, deletion, objection)
Present duties of controllers and processors
Analyze and discuss current research on data and data protection law
Assess the impacts of data protection regulations on society
