What it is about

The TUM.wood lecture series provides an interdisciplinary overview of the entire wood value chain – from silviculture and wood processing to application in construction. In the end you will be able to assess ecological, economic and technical interrelationships as well as evaluate application possibilities and design parameters of wood in construction.

What you will be able to do

• Analyze ecological and economic interrelationships along the wood value chain
• Explain the structure and technical properties of the material wood
• Understand the state of the art in the production of wood products and wood materials
• Classify foundations and developments of biopolymers
• Classify essential aspects and strategies of modern forest management in Central Europe
• Overview of the state of the art in structural analysis, fire protection and building physics
• Evaluate application possibilities of wood in construction (multi-storey buildings, engineered wood construction, construction in existing buildings)
• Understand essential parameters when designing and constructing with wood
• Recognize and classify interrelationships between disciplines of the wood value chain

What the module consists of
