What it is about
You will receive a solid introduction to biomaterials with a focus on polymers, material structure, material properties and manufacturing methods. At the end you will be able to explain material principles in biological systems, assess fabrication and material approaches for tissue engineering, and evaluate criteria for the integration of implants with tissue.
What you will be able to do
- Understand the fundamental principles of biomaterials
- Analyze different crosslinking strategies and explain their limits
- Apply material and fabrication approaches for tissue engineering
- Evaluate criteria for smooth integration of devices with cells and tissue
- Transfer knowledge to related engineering fields
What the module consists of
- Lecture (2 SWS)Conveying the fundamentals and introduction to key concepts
Teaching method
- Lectureprovides the technical foundations and introduces the topics
- Discussions and literature workensures understanding of the learning objectives
