What it is about

You design and investigate circuits for brain-inspired Computing, implement them in SPICE simulations, and validate their function. You also develop suitable algorithms in e.g. Python or C++ and integrate hardware and software components into a total system, which you analyze with respect to energy, performance, reliability, and system integration.

What you will be able to do

  • Design and analyze circuits for brain-inspired Computing
  • Perform SPICE simulations to validate and evaluate circuits
  • Determine and evaluate metrics such as energy, performance, reliability, and area
  • Develop algorithms for brain-inspired Machine Learning in Python or C++
  • Understand HW/SW codesign and perform system integration as well as verification
  • Coordinate and document projects in team work

What the module consists of

  • LaborExecution of tasks related to system integration, SPICE implementation, and algorithm development; continuous work and reporting
  • ProjektarbeitGroup project with presentation and written report on integration and evaluation of results
  • Vorlesung / TheorieShort presentations (about 30 minutes) on fundamental content and introduction to lab topics

Teaching method

  • LehrvortragConveying theoretical foundations and introduction to lab topics
  • Selbstorganisiertes Arbeiten im LaborImplementing and practicing tasks of varying complexity; students work according to their own schedule with tutor support
  • Labornotizen mit AufgabenprogressionProgressive tasks enable consolidated knowledge acquisition through practical exercises
  • Betreuung durch Tutor/AdvisorSupport with difficulties and coordination of laboratory operations
