AI-edited module sheet. Based on the TUMonline module description, edited for readability.Original in TUMonline

What it is about

You will perform modern atomistic simulations (e.g. based on density functional theory) on nanomaterials and electronic devices. In the end you will be able to calculate material properties and the behavior of heterogeneous electronic devices and properly assess the significance of the simulation results.

What you will be able to do

  • Perform modern atomistic simulations
  • Calculate properties of semiconductor nanomaterials
  • Model electronic heterostructure devices
  • Assess the limits and reliability of the methods used

What the module consists of

  • PraktikumConduct simulations in single- or double-person work on a chosen topic; practical computer work
  • Betreuung/MentoringSupport in the simulations by a supervising person

Teaching method

  • Software-gestützte Übungen (QuantumATK)enables even inexperienced users to perform DFT calculations via a graphical user interface
  • Projektarbeit in Einzel- oder Zweierteamsapplication of what has been learned to concrete simulation topics in the computer pool with mentor support
  • Einführungsvortrag/Einführung in das Feld und die Softwareprovides the technical and methodological introduction
