What it is about

You deal with current topics in the hardware of quantum computers: from fundamentals to different platforms to components such as Josephson junctions and resonators. In the end you can independently research, prepare and present and discuss a topic in a scientific seminar talk.

What you will be able to do

  • Knowledge of current hardware topics of quantum computers
  • Understanding of fundamental components and techniques (e.g. cryogenics, microwave technology, superconductivity)
  • Ability to research and structure a scientific topic
  • Ability to deliver a 30-minute seminar-style talk
  • Ability to participate in scientific discussions and Q&A

What the module consists of

  • SeminarYou prepare your own topic, give a talk and participate in the subsequent discussion

Teaching method

  • Independent literature research and talk preparationto get into the topic field early and to promote scientific research skills
  • Individual supervision and literature referencesto support in literature selection, research and preparation of the talk
  • Presentation with subsequent critical discussionto train presentation skills and enable deeper discussions
