What it is about

You learn the fundamentals and advanced techniques for the development of cell-based therapies, with a focus on synthetic, biophysical and biomedical methods for modifying cells and their clinical use. By the end you will be able to compare various cell therapy strategies and delivery mechanisms, design protocols for intracellular delivery, and categorize applications such as CAR-T, iPSC reprogramming, as well as therapies for cancer and tissue regeneration.

What you will be able to do

  • Explain and compare cell therapy strategies and delivery mechanisms
  • Design protocols for intracellular delivery with viral and non-viral methods
  • Analyze and evaluate gene and protein editing procedures
  • Understand the principles of immune cell engineering and stem cell reprogramming
  • Critically assess scientific literature and develop experimental work plans
  • Address ethical and regulatory issues of clinical translation

What the module consists of

  • LecturesProvision of theoretical and conceptual foundations
  • TutorialsDeepening through case studies and problem-solving
  • Interactive discussion sessions and literature reviewsDiscussion and critical engagement with current research
  • Group workDevelopment of theoretical project proposals
