What it is about

You will learn the fundamentals, operating principles and structure of electrochemical energy storage with a focus on rechargeable systems (e.g., mobile devices, electric vehicles, photovoltaic island systems). In the end you will be able to describe electrochemical relationships, characterize and design batteries, and apply this knowledge to current applications.

Assessment

Written examWritten test

Written end-of-term exam (60 minutes) without materials; a non-programmable pocket calculator is allowed. The exam tests recall knowledge, calculation tasks on electrochemical relationships, cell design and thermal behavior as well as theoretical questions on structure and important parameters. The final grade consists of 100% from the end-of-term exam. Additionally, during the semester there are technical articles to be read and discussed in the lectures that are examination-relevant.
