What it is about
You learn the physical foundations and models of nonlinear optics (classical and quantum-mechanical), the symmetry properties of nonlinear susceptibilities, and the description of interactions between light fields in materials. In the end you can design basic nonlinear optical systems and analyze their performance, e.g. frequency converters, parametric amplifiers/oscillators, electro-optic modulators and Raman-based systems.
