What it is about

You learn methods for synthesis, optimization and simulation of digital circuits as well as techniques for modeling EDA problems as mixed-integer-linear programming. In the end you will be able to apply software tools for logic synthesis and simulation and formulate EDA tasks using MILP.

What you will be able to do

  • Apply algorithms for computer-aided design automation of digital circuits
  • Synthesize and optimize combinational and sequential circuits at the logic level
  • Carry out event-driven simulations and modeling with VHDL
  • Formulate EDA problems as Mixed Integer Linear Programming (MILP) models

What the module consists of

  • LectureConveying the theoretical foundations of logic synthesis, simulation and MILP modeling
  • Exercises/ExamplesDevelopment of exemplar solutions and consolidation of knowledge through tasks

Teaching method

  • Blackboard/Professor-led lectureIntroduction and explanation of concepts
  • Interactive discussionsDeepening through exchange and clarification of open questions
  • Example problems with solutionsConsolidation of knowledge through practical solution patterns
  • Slide presentations (occasional)Support of the lecture contents by structured representations
