AI-edited module sheet. Based on the TUMonline module description, edited for readability.Original in TUMonline

What it is about

You will learn mathematical and numerical methods for the analysis and solution of electromagnetic field problems. In the end you will be able to assess, apply and adapt analytical solutions (e.g., using Green's functions, Mie series) and advanced numerical methods (FDTD, FEM, MoM) for altered geometries and material configurations.

What you will be able to do

  • Assessment and evaluation of advanced numerical and analytical methods
  • Application of numerical methods to generate field solutions
  • Derivation of field solutions for modified geometries and materials
  • Assessment of the relationships between mathematical and physical viewpoints
  • Evaluation of the significance of analytical concepts for numerical methods

What the module consists of

  • VorlesungTransmission of mathematical and physical foundations as well as analytical and numerical procedures
  • Übungen / TutorienInteractive discussion of problems with tutors; students should also give tutorings independently
  • Projektaufgaben (freiwillig)In-depth treatment of field problems; achievements can improve the module grade

Teaching method

  • Frontalunterricht (Vorlesung)Presentation and delivery of the content
  • Interaktive Übungsstunden mit TutorenDevelopment and consolidation of methods on problems; application in tutorials
  • Wiederholte Vorlesungen und ÜbungenDeepening of knowledge
