AI-edited module sheet. Based on the TUMonline module description, edited for readability.Original in TUMonline

What it is about

You will learn the fundamentals, current trends and challenges in the development of digital system-on-chip (SoC). You understand the structure and function of the most important SoC building blocks — processors, memory and interconnects — as well as implementation methods (FPGA, standard-cell, full-custom) and energy-saving approaches in embedded systems.

What you will be able to do

  • Analyze the structure and operation of SoCs
  • Evaluate main building blocks (processor, on-/off-chip memory, interconnect)
  • Distinguish implementation methods for SoCs
  • Explain techniques for reducing energy consumption

What the module consists of

  • VorlesungProvision of the technical fundamentals and concepts
  • Übungen/TutorialsDeepening through analysis of publications and datasheets; development of components in the tutorials

Teaching method

  • Vorlesungsunterlagen/PräsentationenIntroduction and structuring of the topics
  • Tutorials with analysis of technical publications and datasheetsApplication of what has been learned and preparation of own designs
