What it is about

In this module you will learn the fundamentals, modelling and design methods for electronic power converters. After completion you will be able to evaluate various power converter topologies and control strategies, as well as assess their applications in renewable energy, electro-mobility and high-power power supplies.

What you will be able to do

  • Model power converters in applications, analyze and evaluate
  • Calculate, simulate and design power converter circuits and controls
  • Identify advantages and disadvantages of different power converters
  • Identify typical implementations of power converters in energy supply systems

What the module consists of

  • VorlesungTransmission of theoretical foundations through lecture, discussion, presentations and demonstrations
  • ÜbungInteractive work on and discussion of problems to prepare for projects and hands-on work
  • PraktikumProject-based practical tasks in individual or group work to apply and deepen the content

Teaching method

  • Vortrag und DiskussionExplanation of the theoretical foundations and promotion of transfer through questions
  • VideovorlesungenPartial provision of content and preparation for in-person sessions
  • Interaktive ÜbungenCollaborative calculation and discussion to develop methods for the practicum
  • Projektarbeiten im PraktikumPractical application to real technical requirements to foster creativity and problem-solving skills
  • Simulationen und DemonstrationenIllustration of interrelations and provision of simulation models for self-study
  • Lehrmaterialien (Folien, Tafel/Tablet, Videos, Downloads)Support of knowledge transfer and in-depth study in self-study
