What it is about

You receive a practice-oriented introduction to numerical methods for the simulation of photonic components. You model optical components, analyze the underlying effects, and implement simulation codes in Matlab. In the end you will be able to apply common numerical procedures to linear and nonlinear light propagation as well as emission and absorption and to create your own simulation tools.

What you will be able to do

  • apply common numerical methods to photonic simulations
  • use Matlab to develop numerical codes
  • develop elementary simulation tools for photonic components
  • analyze linear and nonlinear optical propagation as well as radiation emission and absorption

What the module consists of

  • Kleine VorlesungenProvide the theoretical background
  • Computer-PraktikumExecution and supervision of the simulation tasks by scientific staff

Teaching method

  • VorlesungenConveying the theoretical background
  • Praktikum mit betreuten SimulationsaufgabenApplication and implementation of numerical methods; deepening through provided literature
