AI-edited module sheet. Based on the TUMonline module description, edited for readability.Original in TUMonline

What it is about

In this module you explore challenges and solutions for power supply networks in the context of the energy transition. You will learn methods of voltage control in distribution networks, the grid integration of battery storage, and concepts such as virtual power plants, as well as aspects of grid expansion, short-circuit behavior and protection concepts. In the end you will be able to independently develop solution approaches for concrete grid integration problems and evaluate and compare operating resources and deployment strategies.

What you will be able to do

  • Understand challenges for power supply networks in the context of the energy transition
  • Apply methods of voltage control in distribution networks
  • Assess grid integration and operating strategies for battery storage
  • Explain the functioning and deployment possibilities of virtual power plants
  • Assess grid expansion needs and short-circuit behavior in the interconnected network
  • Evaluate flexibility requirements of power plants within the energy transition
  • Describe and compare modern protection concepts
  • Independently develop solution approaches for concrete grid integration problems
