Clinical Applications of Computational Medicine

What it is about

You learn how methods of Computational Medicine are applied to concrete clinical problems. The module covers data collection, biostatistical modeling, signal processing, pattern recognition, prediction and validation as well as the development of web-based decision aids. In the end you can apply basic signal processing, explore research questions exploratively and present results in writing as well as orally.

What you will be able to do

• Understanding problems and success factors for business models in Computational Medicine/Telemedicine
• Application of basic signal processing procedures (e.g., filtering, analysis of mobile accelerometry/ECG)
• Conducting exploratory research: hypothesis formation, data collection, analysis and reporting
• Improvement of written and oral communication skills through reporting and presenting

What the module consists of

• Einführende Vorlesungen (3) Vermittlung des Basiswissens zu den Themenfeldern
• Kleingruppenprojekte (1–3 Stud.)Vertiefung durch eigenständiges Projekt: Studiendesign, Datenerhebung, Algorithmusentwicklung, Validierung, Analyse
