AI-edited module sheet. Based on the TUMonline module description, edited for readability.Original in TUMonline

What it is about

You will learn fundamental methods of NeuroEngineering in three practical modules: measurement and analysis of hearing-system biosignals, processing of EOG data including the implementation of a gaze-controlled beamformer, as well as multi-channel EEG recording and time-frequency analysis of event-related potentials. At the end you will be able to plan experiments, record biosignals, process them with MATLAB, and statistically evaluate the results.

What you will be able to do

  • Understand theoretical foundations of neural responses to muscular signals and their measurement
  • Perform multi-channel data acquisition and analysis (EMG, BERA, CAEP, EOG, EEG)
  • Plan experiments for capturing event-related potentials
  • Apply signal processing methods and robust information extraction with MATLAB
  • Statistically analyze noisy multivariate neural data
  • Document and present results

What the module consists of

  • SelbststudiumPreparation for the practical exercises with written material
  • Betreute Praktika (Tutorien, je Thema ein Betreuer)Conducting measurements, analysis and practical exercises; weekly meetings of 180 minutes

Teaching method

  • SelbststudiumPreparation for each practicum based on provided materials
  • Praktische TutorienGuidance in measurement, analysis and implementation in small groups
  • Computergestützte Übungen und ProgrammieraufgabenImplementation and evaluation of signals with MATLAB
  • Praktische SignalerfassungAcquiring experience with the Biopac sensor system
