AI-edited module sheet. Based on the TUMonline module description, edited for readability.Original in TUMonline

What it is about

You will learn the fundamentals of robotics, sensing, and control with a focus on wearable exoskeletons for the upper limbs and implement this knowledge in practice. In the end you will be able to use kinematic and dynamic models and develop control routines for a single-joint upper-arm exoskeleton and integrate them with multisensor data.

What you will be able to do

  • Understand various wearable robotics technologies, requirements and applications
  • Understand the role of human–robot interaction and the human factor
  • Describe the modeling of the musculoskeletal system
  • Model the kinematics and dynamics of upper-arm exoskeletons
  • Integrate signals from multiple sensors into exoskeleton systems
  • Design control schemes using kinematic/dynamic models and multisensor modalities

What the module consists of

  • VorlesungenIntroduction to concepts of Wearable Robotics, Biomechanics, Kinematics, Dynamics, Control strategies as well as Sensing and Actuation
  • Tutorien / LaborexperimentePractical application: programming the robot control of a single-jointed exoskeleton and working with the lab-developed robotic skin
  • PraxisprojektTeamwork to develop exoskeleton control routines with regular colloquia for supervision

Teaching method

  • Einführende VorlesungenConveying the theoretical foundations
  • Tutorien im LaborGuidance on the practical implementation of the lecture content
  • Selbstständige studentische Arbeiten (auch im Labor)Independent application and deepening
  • Regelmäßige Kolloquien mit DozentenSupervision and feedback on the final project
