You learn how distribution networks are traditionally planned, dimensioned, and operated and how microgrid concepts change the conventional paradigms. In the end you will be able to describe challenges in planning and operation of active distribution networks, create simple dynamic models of microgrids in MATLAB, perform load-flow analyses, and design controllers for power-electronics-based microgrids.
