AI-edited module sheet. Based on the TUMonline module description, edited for readability.Original in TUMonline

What it is about

You will learn the basics of motivation, emotion and coping as well as their neuroscientific foundations and apply this knowledge to computer-supported models. In the end you will be able to use agent-based models, machine learning and simulations to investigate questions of motivation, stress and coping, and to develop and present an independent project.

What you will be able to do

  • Understand and apply theories of motivation, emotion and coping
  • Employ computational tools and techniques (Agent-based Modeling, ML, Simulation)
  • Create and apply your own computational models
  • Carry out and document a computer simulation or an implementation project

What the module consists of

  • Lecture / InputConveying the theoretical foundations of motivation, emotion and coping as well as computational methods
  • Practical sessions / computer exercisesPractice in programming, simulations and modeling techniques
  • Project workDevelopment, implementation and presentation of an own project with documentation
  • Case studies / discussionsApplication of the models to practical examples and peer feedback

Teaching method

  • TeachingDelivery of core content
  • Case StudiesApplication of theoretical concepts to concrete examples
  • Computer SimulationsImplementation and testing of models
  • Blended Learning / Flipped ClassroomPreparation at home and active sessions for deepening
  • Self-Study / Study Groups / Peer LearningIndependent work and peer support
  • Problem-Based Learning (PBL) / BrainstormingDevelopment of own questions and approaches
  • FeedbackQualitative feedback on projects and presentations
