What it is about

You will learn how quantum- and hybrid computing approaches are practically applied to problems in Life Sciences, Finance and Mobility. In the end you will be able to design solution concepts with quantum-inspired methods (sampling, optimization, hybrid learning), select suitable quantum SDKs, and responsibly assess feasibility as well as societal implications.

What you will be able to do

  • Understanding of quantum sampling, -optimization and hybrid-learning
  • Development of solution approaches for problems in Life Sciences, Finance and Mobility
  • Selection and justification of suitable quantum software tools
  • Assessment of technical feasibility under realistic constraints
  • Critical reflection of societal, political and ethical consequences
  • Communication of technical results to the target audience
  • Effective interdisciplinary teamwork and integration of technical as well as social perspectives

What the module consists of

  • Blockseminarcentral teaching format for introduction, sprint and final presentation
  • Vorbereitungsphase (Lectures & Exercises)Conveying conceptual foundations and introduction to SDK materials
  • Zwei-tägiger Projekt-Sprintintensive teamwork to develop an initial solution architecture and project plan
  • Erweiterte Projektphase in KleingruppenFurther development, validation and operationalization of the solution approach with mentoring
  • AbschlusspräsentationPresentation and discussion of the final project results

Teaching method

  • Einführende Vorlesungen und geführte ÜbungenProviding foundational knowledge and preparation for practical work
  • Hands-on Einführung in Quantum SDKsEnsuring practical skills with software tools
  • Intensiver zweitägiger SprintFostering interdisciplinary collaboration and rapid prototyping
  • Projektarbeit in Kleingruppen mit MentoringDeepening, validation and operationalization of sprint results
  • Einbindung externer Policy-Inputs und künstlerischer BeratungConsidering societal perspectives and supporting visual/narrative presentation
