What it is about

You will receive an introduction to pharmaceutical radiochemistry focusing on nuclear medicine, radiochemistry for imaging and therapy, as well as the production and use of radionuclides and radiopharmaceutical vectors. At the end you will be able to understand the fundamental (radio)chemical methods and concepts of modern radiopharmaceuticals, analyze their application in molecular imaging and radiotherapy, and critically evaluate them.

What you will be able to do

  • Understand methodological and radiochemical basics of modern radiopharmaceuticals
  • Know the principles of radionuclide and radiopharmaceutical production
  • Assess different radiopharmaceutical vectors (small molecules, peptides, biomolecules, nanoparticles)
  • Apply principles of PET- and SPECT-radiochemistry
  • Classify radiolabeling with metallic radionuclides and therapeutic radiochemistry
  • Apply nomenclature in (radio)chemistry
